Since
1998, for numerous reasons which are not important at
this time, the active chapter of Delta Upsilon
Fraternity on McGill campus began a steady decline in
membership. In January 2000, the active chapter, with
the help of the alumni association, made a strong
effort to return the status of the chapter to its
former glory.
While
this attempt was successful, the newcomers lacked
guidance and numbers to fully re-establish the active
chapter as a functional and purposeful working unit.
On October
14th, 2000 the Delta Upsilon McGill Alumni
Association met and officially voted in favour of
the active chapter becoming 'inactive'. The alumni are
currently forming a committee of dedicated alumni
living in the Montreal area to fully restart active
operations on campus. The chapter will most probably
return within a couple of years, with the help of our
strong alumni association and the International
Headquarters of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. This is
not the first time the chapter has done this since it
was founded in 1898 (more).
The
Delta Upsilon McGill Alumni Association remains a
fully active body, separate from its undergraduate
counterpart. It will continue to run as it has for
over a hundred years, meaning that the alumni
section of this website will still be frequently
updated. To read full details of what has become of
Delta Upsilon McGill Alumni, read the news.
